About Breast Reduction Surgery

Also known as reduction mammoplasty, breast reduction removes excess breast fat, glandular tissue and skin to achieve a breast size in proportion with your body and to alleviate the discomfort associated with overly large breasts. Dr. Mazaheri has been specially to perform breast reduction procedures.

Are You a Candidate for Breast Reduction?

You may be a good candidate for this procedure if you meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • You experience back, neck, and shoulder pain caused by the weight of your breasts
  • You have self-image issues due to your breast size/li>
  • You have shoulder indentations from bra straps
  • You have skin irritation beneath the breast crease
  • Your breast size limits your physical activity

The weight of excess breast tissue can impair your ability to lead an active life. The emotional discomfort and self-consciousness often associated with having large pendulous breasts can be as important an issue as the physical discomfort and pain. Let Dr. Mazaheri help you plan a course of treatment to achieve your goals.

What Women Need to Know About Breast Reduction

The success and safety of your breast reduction procedure highly depends on your complete candidness during your consultation. You’ll be asked a number of questions about your health, desires and lifestyle.

Dr. Mazaheri will take the time to discuss your options and recommend a course of treatment and likely outcome of your breast reduction procedure.

Will I be able to breast feed after a breast reduction procedure?

The answer is MAYBE. As part of this procedure, breast tissue is removed to reduce the size and weight of your breast. This may affect your ability to breast feed later. This is why I recommend undergoing this procedure once you are done with having children or you are certain you do not wish to breast feed later.

Is this a painful procedure?

Generally this is not very painful and most people require very little pain medication after surgery.
